Diner-style breakfast and lunch since 1982 under Lompoc's landmark 'Hi! Let's Eat' sign. Hearty portions, all-day breakfast, and catering.
American Host Restaurant & Catering has been a Lompoc breakfast-and-lunch institution since 1982. Owner Dennis Block, a Lompoc resident for over half a century, runs this diner-style spot known for hearty portions: omelets and hash browns, blueberry pancakes, biscuits and gravy, and pastrami sandwiches, each plate topped with a little American flag. There is patio seating out front, and the restaurant also offers catering. Open Monday–Friday 7am–1:30pm and weekends 7am–2pm. Out front stands a piece of Lompoc history: the landmark "Hi! Let's Eat" sign, first erected at the Hi! Restaurant on East Ocean Avenue in 1960. After that restaurant closed, the Lompoc Valley Historical Society saved the sign, and in December 2022 it was restored with new LED bulbs and ceremoniously installed at American Host — the city's first designated landmark sign, now lighting up nightly at 113 North I Street.
