Lompoc Wine Ghetto Tasting

1520-1800 E Chestnut Ave, Lompoc, CA 93436Year-round; best Thu–Sun afternoons

Tucked into an industrial park off East Chestnut, the Wine Ghetto is exactly what it sounds like: a couple dozen small tasting rooms sharing roll-up doors and asphalt instead of manicured estates. This is where Santa Barbara County winemakers actually work, and you can taste pinot noir, chardonnay, and syrah steps from the barrels they came out of. No valet, no dress code, no Napa markup. Wander from door to door on foot, chat with the person who made what's in your glass, and figure out which garage door hides your new favorite bottle. Most rooms keep Thursday-through-Sunday hours, so build your afternoon around it.

Local Tips

Park once and walk the whole cluster. Bring cash and a tote for bottles. Ask each room what they poured last that surprised them.
