Andrew L. Huyck House
A two-story Queen Anne built in 1890 — but not here. It went up eight miles west, out on the farmland. When the sugar company wanted that ground for beets, the whole house was dragged into town behind a thirty-horse team, a haul that took the better part of a week. It came to rest at I Street and Cypress, where it still stands, corner-proud, all gables and gingerbread trim. Today it's a private home and a bed-and-breakfast the owners simply call the 1890 House. Most towns tore their Victorians down. Lompoc moved one six miles to keep it.
It's a private residence and working B&B, so take it in from the sidewalk. It's also a stop on the Old Town Heritage Walk — easiest to pair it with the rest of that loop.
