Lompoc veterans raise new flag after theft from attorney's office

Community members and veterans gathered Saturday for a flag-raising ceremony after a U.S. flag was stolen from a local attorney's office in July.
Community members and veterans from the Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps gathered in Lompoc on Saturday for a flag-raising ceremony following the theft of a U.S. flag from a local attorney's office.
The flag was stolen from attorney Michael B. Clayton's office on July 22. Clayton presented a new flag to the Marines, who raised it in honor of the flag and those who have served the country. Charges have been filed against the woman accused of stealing the original flag.
Honoring Veterans and the Flag
During the ceremony, Clayton emphasized the importance of caring for the flag. He said the message was simple: to take care of the flag because the flag has taken care of the community, and veterans are best suited to that task.
The event served as both a response to the theft and a tribute to local veterans for their service. For more Lompoc community news and events, visit /news and /events.
