Art in Lompoc: Murals, Galleries, and Creative Spaces

Lompoc isn't the first California city that comes to mind when you think about art. But it should be. The town has developed a mural program over several decades that has transformed its downtown into an open-air gallery, and a small but active community of working artists has followed. Here's what makes Lompoc's art scene worth a dedicated visit.

The Mural Program

Lompoc's public mural program began in the 1960s under the sponsorship of the Lompoc Valley Historical Society and local civic groups. Today, more than 30 large-scale murals are painted on downtown building facades, parking structures, and public walls. The Lompoc Art Association

The Lompoc Art Association has been organizing exhibitions, classes, and community art events since the mid-20th century. Working Artist Studios

Several working artists have studios in and around Lompoc, particularly those drawn by the landscape of the Santa Rita Hills and the relative affordability compared to Santa Barbara. Wine Label Art
