QuickSounder is the first satellite mission of the Near Earth Orbit Network (NEON) program of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), which aims to replace the current Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) series of polar orbit weather satellites. This pathfinder mission will demonstrate NOAA's ability to launch a small satellite within 3 years, flying a refurbished Advanced Technology Microwave Sounder (ATMS) instrument to polar orbit. Pouring My Art Out
The Lompoc Valley Art Association is pleased to announce Featured Artist Chris Jeszeck will be exhibiting her work for the month of July, 2026 at the Cypress Gallery, 119 E Cypress Ave, Lompoc. Chris' work begins with fluid acrylic techniques that create movement, texture and unexpected patterns. From there, she often builds in touches of realism and imagery inspired by nature, memory and imagination. She is drawn to the balance between spontaneity and intention, and loves creating paintings that invite viewers to pause, explore and discover something new each time they look. The Cypress Gallery is open Thursday through Sunday, 11 am to 4 pm.

Join the California Nature Art Museum for a free-admission, end-of-summer Family Day on Sunday, August 9th 2026, from 10AM – 2PM. This annual event invites visitors to participate in a variety of free art and nature inspired activities. Show your wild side with a face paint design (10AM-12PM), create your own upcycled art piece, shake paws with dogs and kittens from Santa Ynez Valley Humane Society, wonder at a live bee hive with Santa Barbara Hives, and enjoy a nature-inspired assortment of local organization booths. Additional partners include Santa Ynez Valley Children’s Museum, Natural History Museum of Santa Maria, Kayla’s Kidz, Sweet Treats by Irene, and CommUnify.
