Lompoc Chalks Returns October 2–4 with 40 Artists and New Meet the Artists Event

Lompoc Chalks is coming back to the Veterans Memorial Building grounds October 2–4, 2026, with 40 chalk artists from across California creating large-scale works in front of a live audience. The free, family-friendly street art festival is organized by the Lompoc Theatre Project and runs Friday evening through Sunday afternoon.

This year introduces a new Meet the Artists Kick Off on Friday, October 2, from 5:00–8:00 PM. Guests can meet featured artists, organizers, and Lompoc Theatre Project board members while DJ BargainBin plays classic hits on vinyl. Admission is free. Valley Grill will serve Santa Maria-style BBQ dinner from 5:30–7:30 PM for $25 per person by advance reservation only; email LompocChalks@gmail.com by September 30 to reserve.

Artists Begin Work Saturday Morning

On Saturday and Sunday, artists start their chalk pieces early in the morning. Visitors can return throughout the weekend to watch the works evolve from first sketch to finished art. Saturday hours are 10:00 AM–5:00 PM, and Sunday runs 10:00 AM–4:00 PM. Free parking is available at the Lompoc City public parking lots on South I Street, with free shuttles running every 30 minutes to and from the festival on Saturday and Sunday.

Barbara Satterfield, Lompoc Chalks Chair and President of Lompoc Theatre Project, said the festival has become an annual tradition for many local families. Among this year's featured artists are sisters Jenavieve and Courtney De La Vega. Jenavieve attended the festival since its first year, helping her sister before becoming a standalone artist in 2025.
