La Purisima Golf Course is a public championship course spread across 309 acres of oak-studded sand hills on Highway 246, just east of Lompoc. Designed by acclaimed architect Robert Muir Graves, the 7,105-yard layout is one of the Central Coast's most respected — it hosted the 1996 PGA Tour Final Stage Qualifying and continues to host USGA Championship Qualifiers, and Golf Digest readers have rated it among California's top public courses. Wind is the defining challenge here, so morning rounds tend to play easier than windy afternoons.
