Lompoc bookmobile hosts story time honoring Dolly Parton's literacy legacy
Charlotte's Web Bookmobile invites families to Ryon Memorial Park Sept. 25 for bilingual stories, songs, and info about Parton's free book program.
Lompoc's Charlotte's Web Bookmobile will host a special "Books and Bubbles" story time on Sept. 25 to honor Dolly Parton and her decades of work promoting childhood literacy. Families and caregivers are invited to bring children to Ryon Memorial Park at 10:30 a.m. for a morning of bilingual read-alouds, singing, and dancing.
Representatives from the Northern Santa Barbara County United Way will attend to share information about the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Parton founded the program in 1995 to gift free books to children across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and the Republic of Ireland. Since its start, the program has donated more than 332 million books.
Free books for local families
Families attending the story time are encouraged to enroll in the free Imagination Library program. The event falls on "Dolly Day," a reference to Parton's famous song "9 to 5."
