Lane reduction on Highway 246 (West Ocean Ave) through Oct. 8 for tree removal

Crews are removing a dead Canary Island pine between U and T streets, with one westbound lane closed 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through Thursday.

Drivers heading west on Highway 246, West Ocean Avenue, should plan a little extra time this week. Crews are removing a dead Canary Island pine on the stretch between U Street and T Street, and one westbound lane is closed while they work.

The work began Tuesday, Oct. 6, and runs through Thursday, Oct. 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Message boards and directional signs are posted to guide traffic through the area.

Santa Barbara County is advising residents to expect delays and allow extra travel time, especially during the midday work hours.
